  1. Where is Oak Trace located?
    Oak Trace is a senior living community at 270 Village Drive in Downers Grove, Illinois, positioned between Chicago and Naperville in DuPage County. Set on a 40-acre naturalized campus with walking trails and a pond, the community offers easy access to Chicago's dining, arts, and cultural institutions and to downtown Naperville's restaurants and riverfront.   2. What type of senior living community is Oak Trace?
    Oak Trace is a not-for-profit Life Care community, also known as a Life Plan Community or CCRC, in Downers Grove, IL. Residents enjoy an independent lifestyle today with priority access to a full continuum of on-site care if their needs ever change, all on one campus.  
  3. What levels of care does Oak Trace offer?
    Oak Trace offers a complete continuum of on-site care: independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation. The health center also provides on-site dialysis, one of the few programs of its kind in the Chicago area, so residents who need treatment can receive it without off-site trips. A recently completed expansion updated the health center alongside new independent living residences. All care levels are available to non-residents as well.   4. Can I get help in my own residence if I need it?
    Through Lifespace Personal Services, residents at Oak Trace can receive personalized support right in their own residence, from help with daily routines such as bathing and getting dressed, to wellness reminders like blood pressure checks, light housekeeping, and recovery support after a hospital stay. Team members are Lifespace employees, screened, trained, and supervised directly by the organization, so families are not responsible for hiring or oversight.   5. What is the difference between independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing?
    Independent living is for active adults who want a maintenance-free lifestyle with amenities and community. Assisted living adds help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, and medication. Skilled nursing provides 24-hour licensed medical care and rehabilitation. Oak Trace offers all of these on one campus, so you can transition smoothly as your needs change without leaving the community.  
  6. What happens if my care needs change over time?
    As a Life Care community, Oak Trace gives residents priority access to assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation right on campus. As needs change, care adjusts without disrupting your routines, relationships, or surroundings, so you never have to leave the community you know to receive higher levels of care.  
  7. Can I keep my own doctor?
    Residents at Oak Trace are welcome to keep their own physicians, and complimentary local transportation within a ten-mile radius makes getting to outside appointments easy. Our team can help coordinate as needed so your care stays convenient.  
  8. What is Life Care?
    Life Care is a contract that gives Oak Trace residents priority access to assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation for the rest of their lives at a predictable, plan-based rate.   9. How does Life Care pricing work?
    Life Care at Oak Trace typically involves a one-time entrance fee plus a monthly service fee, which together secure priority access to future care at a predictable, plan-based rate. Pricing varies based on the residence you choose and your care plan. Care levels are also available to non-residents. Contact our team for a personalized overview.  
  10. What happens if I outlive my financial resources?
    Oak Trace is part of Lifespace Communities, which maintains a benevolence fund through the Lifespace This means Life Care residents who outlive their financial resources through no fault of their own can continue to be supported and cared for, offering an added layer of security and peace of mind.  
  11. What amenities and services are available at Oak Trace?
    Oak Trace offers a state-of-the-art fitness center, an indoor pool, a creative arts studio, multiple dining venues, walking trails, and a pond across a 40-acre naturalized campus, along with more than 40 resident-led social clubs and a full calendar of events and outings. A recently completed expansion added new apartment and townhome floor plans in the Burr Oak Expansion Wing. Complimentary local transportation is available within a ten-mile radius.  
  12. What dining options are available?
    Oak Trace offers chef-prepared meals across multiple restaurant-style dining venues, with menu variety and attention to special dietary needs. Residents can gather with friends over a full dinner or something more casual depending on the day. Dining is a social centerpiece of daily life at the community.  
  13. Can I keep my pet?
    Yes, Oak Trace is a pet-friendly community, and pets are warmly welcomed. The 40-acre campus and walking trails give you and your pet plenty of green space to enjoy. Some guidelines may apply, so we recommend confirming the details for your specific pet with our team.  
  14. Can I still travel and maintain my independence?
    Independent living at Oak Trace is designed around freedom. You come and go as you please, travel whenever you like, and enjoy maintenance-free living with the everyday upkeep handled for you. The community supports your independence while offering peace of mind that on-site care is there if you ever need it.  
  15. Can my family visit or stay overnight?
    Family and friends are always welcome at Oak Trace, whether joining you for a meal, an event, or a visit. The community encourages connection with loved ones, and your team can share details on guest accommodations and visiting.  
  16. Can couples with different care needs live together?
    As a Life Care community, Oak Trace is designed to support couples even when their care needs differ. One partner can receive assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing on campus while the other continues independent living, staying close and connected. Our team can walk you through the options for couples.  
  17. How do I schedule a tour or visit?
